Civil ceremony in Waiblingen: timber frames, Erleninsel and short routes.

From my photo archive.

Waiblingen likes to call itself a young city in old walls — and you feel that on the wedding day: timber frames, narrow lanes and ceremony places from a classic registry room to the Erleninsel.

As a wedding photographer based in Remseck I often cover civil ceremonies here with a walk through the old town or into the river meadows. What matters isn’t the longest location list, but a flow that fits your guests and your pace.

In Waiblingen choose the ceremony place by guest count and weather — then plan only as much walking as still leaves time for each other.

Ceremony places named by the city of Waiblingen.

The official overview includes the town-hall ceremony room, the Kameralamtskeller, the Bohlenstube in the house of city history, the civic centre and the Kleine Erleninsel. There are also rooms and special places in the districts — Beinstein, Bittenfeld, Hegnach, Hohenacker and Neustadt among them.

For you that means: confirm place and date with the registry first, then think photographically. A cellar needs different light and group photos than an outdoor slot.

Kleine Erleninsel: open sky with clear boundaries.

According to the city, the Kleine Erleninsel in the Rems meadows can be used for civil ceremonies from April to October depending on the weather. Booking runs through the civic centre; the island is closed off during the ceremony.

For photos I plan arrival, exit and a short moment alone so guests aren’t in the way and you don’t have to rush on. We clarify parking and meeting points beforehand so no one searches between the pool and the civic centre.

  • Confirm date and place with the registry / civic centre.
  • Note a weather alternative and guest arrival.
  • After the ceremony, plan time for congratulations and a short couple window.

After the vows: old town or straight to the celebration.

Many couples want timber frames and cobblestones right after the ceremony. That works when the walk stays short and you know where guests wait or raise a glass.

If the celebration starts elsewhere — Remseck, Ludwigsburg or further up the Remstal — I count travel honestly. Ten calm minutes together beat a rushed motif marathon before arrival.

Small circle or larger gathering?

Waiblingen suits intimate ceremonies and couples who then eat with their closest people. There are also rooms for larger parties — the city emphasises different capacities.

If you’re planning a small wedding, the story on a small wedding in Waiblingen helps too. In both cases photography puts your closeness first and the backdrop second.
